CLARION - Alice Irene (Roosevelt) Dougherty, 88, of Clarion, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
Memorial services for Irene Dougherty will be held on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Clarion with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church.
Irene was the cherished wife of Dale Dougherty for sixty-eight years and was a member of the Clarion, Iowa community since her birth on December 17th, 1921. In December 2007, Dale and Irene moved to an assisted living center in Ames to be near their son David. She was the daughter of Dr. Theodore and Dotsie Soults Roosevelt. Irene's sister, Ruth Bunn, passed away in early May 2009 at the age of ninety-six. Irene was very active in the Clarion United Presbyterian Church and was a member of Chapter FS of P.E.O.
Irene is survived by her husband Dale, a longtime Clarion Banker, and their four children: Diane (Tom) McNulty of Naples, Florida, Mike (Jackie) Dougherty of Aurora, Colorado, Linda (Steve) Foltz of Nashotah, Wisconsin and David (Charlotte) Dougherty of Ames, Iowa. She also has six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the Clarion United Presbyterian Church, Wright County Medical Center, and/or Ames Homeward Hospice.
