She died Thursday at her home in New York.
A native of Athens, Dr. Rose came to Tuscaloosa with her family in 1914.
She received her BA and MA degrees and the Doctor of Education degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, in 1947.
She joined the faculty at New York University in 1946 and when she died was associate professor of English Education there.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Evans Rose, Tuscaloosa, and two aunts, Mrs. Lily Belle McDaniel, Belle Mina, and Mrs. Nell Cotten Gorham, New York City.
