Marjorie Newton Brockman, 81, of Richmond and formerly of Laurel, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004.

Born July 24, 1923, in Rush County, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Pearl (Nicholson) Rowe, both deceased. She married Erskin Brockman in 1992; he survives.

Mrs. Brockman lived in Laurel from 1948 to 1992, when she moved to Richmond. She worked at Ford (and its successors) in Connersville from 1944 to 1985. She was a member of Community Gospel Church.

Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons, Ralph Bergen (and wife Billie) of Cambridge City, Dwight Newton (and wife Nancy) of Connersville and Bennie Newton (and wife Cindy) of Moscow; six daughters, Ruby Shera of Connersville, Novice Stikeleather of Florida, Vickie (Mrs. Allen) McIntosh of Brookville, Barbara (Mrs. Mark) Idzerda of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Sonja (Mrs. Jim) Hicks and Cheryl (Mrs. Keith) Lawrence, both of Milton; five step children, Russell, Carlos, Clayton, Cleo and Randall; 27 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathleen Fowler of Connersville.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Community Gospel Church, with the Rev. Robert E. Lee officiating.

Burial will follow in Laurel North Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Gospel Church.
