She was born March 20, 1937 in Bloomer to Helen (Omeig) and Ludwig Ruf. She was raised in Chippewa Falls and graduated from McDonell High School in 1956.
Delores married Henry “Hank” Burtness on Dec. 6, 1954.
After their marriage, they moved to California where she received her LPN degree in nursing. They moved back to Chippewa Falls in 1969.
Delores worked for Midelfort Clinic for 25 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for family and relatives. She also enjoyed her yard, especially her flowers and birds.
Survivors include: her husband, Henry; two sons, David (Renee) Burtness of Menomonie and Daniel (Roberta) Burtness of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Evelyn Ruf of Eau Claire and Diane “Blondie” (Joe) Rada of Bloomer; a brother, Charles (Mary Sue) Ruf of Chippewa Falls; sister-in-law Jean Ruf of Chippewa Falls; five grandchildren, Troy, Scott, Kayla, Ryan (Bethany) Burtness and Kari (David) Michels; ten great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; and three brothers, Lloyd Charles Ruf in infancy and Donald and Richard Ruf.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls, with Fr. Joseph Valentine celebrating the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
