Leola M. Anderson

Leola M. Anderson, 83, of Waco and a former resident of Sweetwater, was called home on Friday, Dec. 7, 2004, in a Waco Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in the Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home chapel in Sweetwater with the Rev. Malcolm Brown officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery alongside her husband, Col. Wesley Harvey Anderson.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Exeter, Calif., on Jan. 13, 1921, to Cora Ann Bell Wilson and William Ora Runyon. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sweetwater since 1959. She worked at the First Baptist Church and was the secretary for the Nolan County Tuberculosis Association. She later was the secretary for the area missionary, the Rev. Malcolm Brown.

Leola and Wesley's lives started together in the Hawaiian Islands until the attack of Pearl Harbor. They lived in several countries, including Japan, Germany and several locations throughout the United States.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean Leggett and husband, Ray, of Waco; her son, Jerry L. Anderson of Long Beach, Calif.; her sister, Myra Castellaw and husband, Marvin, of Silver Lakes; her brother, Gene Palmer and wife, Grace, of Grants Pass; two grandchildren, Lauren Sue Stumpf and husband, John, of Hewitt, and Raymond F. Leggett III and wife, Lynn, of Bloomfield Hills; and two great-grandchildren, Raymond F. Leggett IV and Kristin Michelle Stumpf.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Wesley Harvey Anderson.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Ford, Tere Lawerance, Ray Leggett III, John Harvey Stumpf, Barron Bird and Dusty Lovell.
