Caroline Amanda Runyon was born 1829 in New Brunswick, Middlesex County, NJ, the eldest of 5 known surviving children (3 boys/2 girls) born to rubber manufacturer Clarkson Runyon, Sr. and his wife, Matilda Carman Mundy.

She was the paternal grandchild of John Runyon & Christina Stelle; and gr-grandchild of Ephraim Runyon & Ruth Molleson, all of Piscataway, Middlesex County, NJ. She is a direct descendant of this family's patriarch, Vincent (Rongnion) Runyon, Sr. of France who came to the American Colonies ca. 1668 and settled in Piscataway. She was the maternal grandchild of Judge Simeon Mundy & Isabel/Isabella Carman of Metuchen, Middlesex County, NJ.

Caroline was 23 years old on August 2, 1849 when she married 20-year old bank clerk, Moses Coddington. The couple would have one child -- George Conover Coddington (1853-1854), who died in infancy.

The marriage was short-lived as Caroline died six years into the marriage. Caroline was buried in Willow Grove near her parents and infant son.

Three years later, Moses married (2nd) Emilie Mercien DuPuy, the 20-year old daughter of Episcopal Rev. Ephraim and Isabelle DuPuy. Moses and Emilie would become parents to one known child, Herbert DuPuy Coddington (1861-1890).
