Frederic C. "Fred" Rustin, of Buckeye, died May 21, 2000 in Phoenix. He was 73. Rustin was born in Atlanta, Ga. on Aug. 23, 1926 and moved to Arizona in 1962.
After a tour in the U.S. Navy, where he served aboard the USS Suffolk, Rustin attended San Diego State University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree.
He then went to work for the Safeway Co. After moving to Arizona, Rustin opened Rusty's Drive-In, and later a second restaurant by the same name in Avondale.
Rustin was very active in the Masonic Order and the Shriners.
He is survived by: his wife, Virginia; daughter, Debrah (Frank) Christensen; sisters, Juanita Crawford and Evelyn Parks; brothers, Donald, Milton, Ralph and Warren.
Visitation will be Thursday evening at Buckeye Funeral Home, 104 Baseline Road, in Buckeye, with graveside services 10 a.m. Friday at Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Park. Buckeye Funeral Home made the arrangements.
