Lewis R. Ruth 80, of Easton, formerly of Brockton, died Nov. 23, 2010, lovingly surrounded by his family. Lewis had been the husband for 54 years to Barbara (Beals) Ruth. He was the son of the late James and Edna (Henderson) Ruth, and was raised and educated in Linneus, Maine. Following high school, Lewis enlisted and proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. For many years, he was a posting and contract manager for Ackerley Communications, retiring eight years ago. Lewis is remembered by his family as a proud, honest man with great integrity, who found the love and support for his family and his Christian values to be his most important goal. As a youth, he enjoyed playing basketball; and as an adult, enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their sports. He was always the doting Papa. He courageously battled Rheumatoid Arthritis for over 50 years, never losing his sense of humor or perseverance. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, L. Robert Ruth and his wife Bethany of Pennsylvania, Jane Andrews and her husband Tony, Holly Pyne and her husband Russell, Gregory Ruth, all of Easton, and the late Vicky Lee Ruth; his siblings, Dorothy Stackhouse and her husband Carlton of Maine and the late Howard Ruth, Mona Swimm and Marjorie Irish; his beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Megan, Nicholas and Rebecca Andrews, Abigail, James, John and Daniel Ruth, Samuel, Callie and Charlotte Pyne. Visitation in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Friday 4-8 p.m. Funeral home service Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. In memory of Lewis, the family would prefer donations to Camp Fireside, c/o Rob Lyons, 13 Freeman St., Quincy, MA 02170. For directions and condolences, www.conleyfuneralhome.com.
