Mrs. Winifred D. Elwell, 74, of Dunlap, passed away December 24 in Briggs Home in Chillicothe. Funeral services were in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Olsen officiating. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery, Dunlap.
She was born in Pratt City, Ala., April 17, 1902, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Rutledge. She married L.D. Elwell, Sr., Feb. 18, 1922 in Tarrant City, Ala.
He survives. Also surviving are two sons, L.D., Jr., of Springfield, Va., and Jerome of Chillicothe, three daughters, Mrs. Francis (Dorothy) Thompson of Edelstein, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Tighe of Lacon and Mrs. Michael (Sarah) Gallagher of Peoria and 15 grandchildren.
A half-brother and a half-sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Elwell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
