BRISTOL - Ellen R. "Betty" Broderick, 82, of Bristol, wife of Donald T. Broderick for 53 years, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center. Betty was born Aug. 30, 1924 in Bristol and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Bridgette (Collins) Ryan. She resided in Bristol all her life and before retiring, she was employed at the former Connecticut Bank and Trust Co. She was a member of St. Gregory Church and the Rosary Society at the church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Broderick is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kathleen Broderick of Chesapeake, Va. and Timothy and Lori Broderick of Middletown; six grandsons, Ryan and his wife, Jennifer, Matthew, Joseph, Daniel, Aaron and Mark Broderick; a great-granddaughter, Alison Broderick; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and two sisters, John Ryan, Katherine Riemer and Ann Ryan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory Church, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol.
