March 12, 1928 - Aug. 17, 2008 Resident of Fremont Bernie died peacefully at home early Sunday morning on August 17th surrounded by her loving family. Loving wife of 52 years to LaVerne Sa of Fremont. Beloved mother to Patrick Sa and wife Sharon of Fremont; Robert Sa and wife Sherry of Rome, WI; Richard Sa and wife Susan of Newark; Bernadette Hughes of Union City and Diane Sa-Greer of Newark. Cherished grandmother to Matthew, Andrew, Laura, Danielle, Shannon, Justin, Amanda, Johnny, Niesha, Joshua, Ryan, Farrah and Staci. Preceded in death by a brother Patrick Joseph Francis in 1951 and by her parents Patrick and Mae Francis. She was a native of Fremont and a Charter Member of the Young Ladies' Institute since the age of eighteen. Her passions in life were family gatherings, especially Christmas, cooking, playing cards with family and friends, vacations to the beach and an occasional trip to Cache Creek. Her sweet loving spirit instilled in her by the Lord will be deeply missed. Visitation Thursday, August 21, from 4-8pm with a vigil at 7pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont 94536. Funeral Mass Friday, August 22, 11am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 43148 Mission Blvd., Fremont 94539. Reception to follow immediately after Mass. Burial will be private at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
