Mrs. Bessie S. Hampton, 68, widow of Horace G. Hampton, died at 10:30 o'clock last night in Ball Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hampton had been in ill health for several months and became seriously ill a few weeks ago. She was removed to the hospital from her home at 317 South Council street Thursday.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Chamness of Philadelphia, who was on her way to Mrs. Hampton's bedside yesterday, and a brother, Mr. Sanders, residing in Chicago.

Funeral arrangements will not be made until their arrival.

Mrs. Hampton was born Nov. 17, 1871, in Highland County, Ohio, the daughter of Hezekiah H. and Martha E. Sanders. She was married to Horace G. Hampton, June 21, 1893, in Richmond. Before his death a few years ago, Mr. Hampton was a widely known furniture dealer and undertaker and operated his business on South Walnut street for many years.

A member of the Friends Memorial Church, Mrs. Hampton was affiliated with the Mary Goddard Sunday School Class at that church.
