DAVENPORT — Loren T. Sanders, 89, of Davenport joined his wife and the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Handicapped Development Center, Hickory Grove Road , Davenport.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1924, in Ottumwa, Iowa, a son of the late Burl and Bertha (Alcorn) Sanders. He was united in marriage to Vivian Freeman on Aug. 15, 1966, in Miami, Okla. He was proud of serving his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Loren was a construction worker most of his life, a longtime employee of Tri-City Blacktop, Bettendorf, and enjoyed working with heavy equipment. He was a member of Midwest Operating Engineers for over 45 years. His family was the most important thing in his life, next to his parents. He also loved gardening and could fix anything.

Survivors include children, Eddie Sanders, Beverly Halliday, Loren J. Sanders, Joanne Welker, Jerry Sartor and Kenneth Sanders; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; parents; son, Steve Sanders; daughter, Karen Conley; grandson, Doug Henley; three brothers, Tommy, Leonard and Lester.

Loren was a very kind and loving man who will be greatly missed.
