Eldon R. Sanders, 55, 1224 N. Country Club Road, died Saturday in Ball Hospital after being stricken ill while he and his wife, Marybelle, were visiting friends.

A Jay County native, Mr. Sanders came to Delaware County in 1951, residing in Selma. He moved to Muncie in 1959. Mr. Sanders had been employed at Delco Battery the past 37 years.

He was a gunner's mate in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church at Selma, the Delco Sympathy club, UAW Local 489 and the National Rifle Association. He also was an active CBer, involved in several organizations associated with citizens band radio.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Sandy Weems, Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. Jane Mariage, Muncie, and Mrs. Eldonna Webb, Santa Clara, Calif.; four brothers, Richard Sanders, Muncie, Lloyd Sanders Jr., Winchester, N. Jay Sanders, Yorktown, and Frank D. Sanders, Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. Bonnie Gray, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Parson Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Paul Hill officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.
