PLEASANT VALLEY - Raymond Sanders, 78, of Pleasant Valley, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Burial in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport.

He was born in 1934, in Ava, Mo., to Maryline and Raymond Sanders. He was united in marriage to Lorrine Krell in Bettendorf on June 19, 1954. She died in June 27, 2005. Raymond owned and operated R.J. Sanders Trucking in Bettendorf for over 50 years, retiring in 2004.

Raymond loved fishing, the Chicago Bears, and was well known as the "euchre champ of Bettendorf." Raymond was well respected in the community through his business. He was the anchor of his family and loved each grandchild for their own special qualities. They were his world.

Survivors include his sons and daughter, Raymond John (Nancy) Sanders Jr., Prosperity, S.C., Sheryl (Richard, Sr.) Speidel, Davenport, and Wayne (Julie) Sanders, Bettendorf; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn (Gary) Kistler, Taylor Ridge. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
