Robert F. Sanders, 89, 916 W. Carson St., died Thursday morning in Ball Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Hew as born in Muncie, attended city schools and graduated from Muncie High School in 1916.
Mr. Sanders was employed at Chevrolet-Muncie (now Hydra-matic) 42 years before his retirement in 1960. He was an elder emeritus and trustee of Hazelwood Christian Church, a past master of Delaware Lodge 46, F&AM, and also a member of Chapter Council and commandry.
He was the first president of Riverside Chapter 3461 American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Bullock Sanders, to whom he had been married 64 years; two daughters, June (Mrs. John) Spangler, Sweetser, and Janet (Mrs. Dale) Brown, New Paris, Ohio; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hazelwood Church. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling is 3 to 7 p.m. today in Meeks Mortuary or at the church 30 minutes before services. Delaware Lodge 46 will conduct memorial services at the mortuary at 7 p.m. today.
