Mrs. Bertha Sauer, of Idaho Falls, RFD 2, received word from the war department on September 4th that her son, Keith Sauer, was missing in action.

Keith had been a former member of the National Guard Company. When his enlistment period was up and he was discharged, he joined the Army Air Corps shortly afterward.

He went overseas in January, 1943, and was a radio man and gunner on a B-24.

Keith wrote to his mother that they had been in many flying missions and wished that he could give the details relative to the missions. Pictures received by his mother revealed that he was very thin, and he stated that he was busy.

The war department's telegram stated he was missing in action since August 20th. Mrs. Sauer received 2 more letters from him dated the 23rd and 26th of August. The war department was contacted, and they admitted a mistake was made and that the date should have read August 30th.
