Luther Woman Dies Thursday

Mrs. Gary Burnette, wife of the Luther Village President taken by stroke

Mrs. Gary Burnette, wife of the Luther Village President, died Thursday in Reed City Hospital.

Mrs. Burnett was found unconscious on the floor of her home by her husband when he returned home early Wednesday evening. She was taken to the Reed City hospital accompanied by Mr. Burnett and Mrs. William Sheets. She died at 3:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20.

She was born the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seaman Sawyer at Paris, October 15, 1881. She moved with her parents when a small child to a farm in East Ellsworth and later to Luther. She was married to Gary Burnett at Luther, April 29, 1909.

Funeral service was conducted in the Methodist Church Sunday. Burial was in North Park Cemetery. Besides her husband she is survived by a son Gail Burnett and two daughters, Mrs. John Lindell of Saginaw and Genevieve of Luther, 4 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Betz of Adrian and Mrs. Nora Roush in Florida, several nieces and nephews and many life long friends.

She was a member of the Methodist Woman's Society of Christian Service for which she served faithfully for many years as secretary and treasure.

Pall bearers were; Fred Johnson, Robert Bradford, Dick Lewis, Harry Seney, Archie Morrell and Floyd Gray.
