Edward was the husband of Thelma May Lively/Maddox and the father of James Darius, Dana Lee and John Edward Sawyer. His wife Thelma was born to John Willis Lively and Alice Irene Dillon. When Thelma was just five weeks old her mother died and at the age of two years, she was adopted by Earnest Clarence Maddox and Minnie Belle Curtis.
