Terry Sue Anderson, 74, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at her home in Anita.
A visitation with family will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Anita.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at United Methodist Church in Anita.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita with lunch to follow at the Anita Community Center in Anita.
Terry Sue Anderson, 74, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at her home in Anita.
Terry was born on November 6, 1941, in Adair, Iowa, the daughter of John (Fred) Frederick Scarlett Jr. and Iva Mae (Heckman) Scarlett. She was raised in Adair and attended school there, graduating from Adair High School with the class of 1959. Terry was married to Merritt Spry in 1959, and they moved to Anita, Iowa. They divorced in 1988. Terry was then united in marriage to Russell Anderson in 1989 and they made their home in Anita where they remained.
She was employed for many years at the Anita State Bank and the Nishna Valley Credit Union. Terry also was employed at H & R Block and most recently for Clipper Wind for a couple years, while the windmills where going up in the area. Terry was a very hard working classy lady. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Anita. Terry was very active in the church and with the United Methodist Women's Circle for many years.
Terry absolutely loved her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She loved her family unconditionally. Spending time with her family was always very important and meaningful to her. She also enjoyed spending time at the Wellness Center in Anita, exercising, walking, flowers, nature, reading and being a lover of life. Terry was a happy person and was always happy with what she had in life.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the blood drive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Iva Mae Scarlett.
Terry is survived by her husband, Russell Anderson of Anita, IA; her children, Scott (Deanna) Spry of Wiota, Jody (Steve) Spry-Schuler, Kipp Spry and Clint (Janet) Spry all of Anita; her step-children, Tracy (Craig) Nobiling of Chadron, NE and Mark Anderson of Iowa City, IA; her grandchildren, Susie (fiancé Matt Nelson) Spry of Waukee, IA, Sarah (Jon) Denney of Urbandale, IA, Carlie Schuler of Anita, Kadie Schuler of Waukee, Nicole (Ryan) Velgersdyk of Sioux Falls, SD, Corey Spry of Anita; step-grandchildren, Alexandria and Dominic Nobiling both of Chadron and Avery and Shain Anderson both of Coralville, IA; her great-grandchildren, Caelan Olson, Braxton and Scarlett Denney, Dalton, Clayton and Alicyn Vogel and Evelyn and Patrick Velgersdyk; siblings, Cora (Mike) Kelly of Anita, John (Connie) Scarlett of Anita, Marge (Howard) Zanders of Atwater, CA, and Steve Scarlett of Adair; two brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; other relatives and many friends.
