Emma Schert was born in 1886, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, daughter of Albert Scherf and Bertha Brinkman. She died in 1936, place unknown, aged about 51 years and was buried in the Cedar Falls Cemetery, in Dunn County, Wisconsin.

On March 3, 1906, Emma was united in marriage to Edmund Leon Roswell in an Episcopal ceremony performed by Rev. William Gallaway in Menomonie Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin and witnessed by Paul Scherf and Henriette Weuship. Edmund was born October 12, 1881 in Tainter Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin, son of Lewis Eugene Roswell and Linnie Alberta Finley. He died Oct. 28, 1968, at Menomonie, Dunn County, Wisconsin, aged 87 years and 16 days and was buried besides the remains of his wife in Cedar Falls Cemetery. Their double Roswell gravestone is inscribed "Father Leon 1881 - 1968." and "Mother Emma 1885 - 1936."Their known children, born in Tainter Township, were:

Victor's death was a suicide. He, along with his brothers Leonard Leon and Kent Wayne Roswell are buried in The Cedar Falls Cemetery in Dunn County. Their triple Roswell gravestone is inscribed "1937 Kent Wayne 1938." "1921 Victor Dale 1967." and "1919 Leonard Leon 1929." Also in the same cemetery is a double Roswell gravestone inscribed "Ernest E. 1909 Married 1931 Thelma V. 1912." No dates of death were entered on that gravestone. Another Roswell double gravestone there was inscribed "Arlo L. 1923 Viola M. 1929." Again no dates of death were entered.

In the 1910 U.S. Census, Leon Roswell was a 28 years old teamster living on a rented farm in Menomonie Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin, with his 24 year old wife Emma and their children, 2 year old Mildred and 10 month old Ernest Roswell. They had been married 5 years and were the parents of 2 children, both living.

In the 1920 U.S. Census, Leon Roswell was a 38 year old farmer living in Tainter Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin, with his 34 year old wife Emma and their four children: 12 year old Mildred; 10 year old Ernest; 7 year old Lennie; and 8 month old Leonard Roswell.
