FUNERAL SCHEDULED TODAY FOR AGED MCMINNVILLE MAN
Albert Scherf, 86, died here Monday and funeral services were held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. under the direction of Macy & Son. The Rev. Schulenberg officiated.
Scherf, born in Germany on March 26, 1859 married Bertha Brinkman there, and four children were born to this union. Following his wife's death he married Mrs. Mina Ball who raised his children, and following her death he married Mrs. Davenport. Scherf came to the United States when he was 21 and moved to McMinnville from Albany two years ago. He was a member of the Lutheran church.
Interment was at the Masonic cemetery. Survivors are three sons, Otto and Ernest Scherf from Seattle, and Bert Scherf of Sacramento; two step-sons, Elmer Davenport of McMinnville and Roy Davenport of Portland; a daughter Mrs. Mildred Newport in Chicago; and a brother, Lewis Scherf at Centralia, Wash.
