Lavern A. "Bud" Scherf, 79, of Mancelona, Mich., died Sunday at Northern
Michigan Hosptial, Petoskey, Mich.
He was born in Fremont to the late Lavern and Ethel (Mittan) Scherf. He married
Mary K. "Sue" Rowe on Sept. 9, 1967. They moved from Marblehead to Mancelona
in 1987 and Mrs. Scherf died in 1994.
Mr. Scherf worked repairing clocks and especially enjoyed antique clocks.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are sons Lavern E. and Patrick G. of Albuequerque, N.M., Thomas L. of
Las Vegas, Nev., and Frank K. of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters Nancy A. Martin-Scherf
of Henderson, Nev., Jeanne S. Scherf of Albuequerque and Norma S. Chase of
Toronto, Canada; and 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A sister,
Maribelle Ayres, is deceased.
Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Wolfe
Funeral Home, Kalkaska, Mich.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial: Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials: To the hospital.
