Sylvia (Schneider) Bell, 87, of Midland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Brittany Manor. The daughter of the late John and Katherine (Dittenbir) Schneider was born on April 27, 1923, and graduated from Midland High. .

Sylvia worked for the Midland Daily News in the early 40s and 50s, before deciding to stay home and raise her family. She retuned to the Midland Daily News full time in 1971, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed her summers at their cottage and spending time with family and friends.

Sylvia is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Maher of Midland, and Dorothea Botimer and son-in-law Tim Botimer also of Midland; granddaughter, Michelle (Maher) Terwillegar and her husband Troy; great-grandchildren Tyler, Taylor, Tanner, and Teigen Terwillegar; and one sister, Dorothy Chereton of Chesterfield Township.

Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, John; grandson, Christopher Maher; two brothers, Herman Schneider, and Raymond Schneider; and one sister, Esther Schneider.

In following Sylvia's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service at Midland City Cemetery will take place. The family is being assisted by Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Directors.
