Serafina L. "Fannie" Scorsese DiGiovanni, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the University Medical Center at Princeton. She was 86 years old.

Born in New York City, she lived there before moving to Jamesburg in 1957. She moved to the Oakwoods Senior Citizens Center in Monmouth Junction in 2001.

A longtime member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Jamesburg, she served her parish as housekeeper for 15 years, retiring in 2000. Previously, she was a seamstress at Komar Dress Factory in Spotswood for five years. She was especially proud of and well-known for her cooking, and collaborated with her sister-in-law, Catherine Scorsese on an Italian cookbook. She appeared on Cooking with Sara Moulton and Molto Mario with Mario Battali, both on Food Network TV. She recently was attending St. Cecelia's Roman Catholic Church in Monmouth Junction and was a member of the Team Senior Citizens Group at the church.

Her husband, Joseph A., died in 1986. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Maria Ann F. and Keith Blanton of Monmouth Junction; and many nieces and nephews. Throughout her lifetime, Fannie adopted and befriended numerous special friends and extended family members, and fostered a very unique relationship with Matt and Lisa Kelleman and their children, Mark, Michael, Gabriel and their special angel, Emily.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Township. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13 from the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy to be celebrated at St. James R.C. Church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial contributions are encouraged to either St. James Church, 36 Lincoln Ave., Jamesburg, NJ 08831, or the American Cancer Society.
