ARLENE (MARZOLF) SCOTT

Arlene Scott died Feb. 29, 2012, in Thornton, Colo., after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was born in Lehr on March 11, 1937. Her parents were Theodore and Esther Marzolf. She grew up and attended schools in Ashley. In February 1960, she graduated from the Christie Beauty School in Bismarck. She then worked in a beauty shop in Ellendale.

She married Clifford Scott in Ellendale on July 2, 1961, and began her married life in New Town, where her husband worked as an engineer for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The family moved to Bismarck in 1966. Three children, Jason, Susan and John, were born to this marriage.

In October 2007, after her husband retired from the bridge division of the North Dakota Department of Transportation, they moved to a senior retirement facility, The Village, in Scottsbluff, Neb.

In March 2010, Arlene's bout with Parkinson's disease, took a sudden turn for the worse and she had to go to a nursing home. To be near their two children, a nursing home in Thornton, Colo., a Denver suburb, was selected. Her husband then moved into a nearby apartment.
