An accident which works unusual hardship on a young wife and five children occurred Friday afternoon of last week when Leo Seidl, age 28 years, fell 36 feet from the roof of a silo on which he was working and received injuries which proved fatal at an early hour Saturday morning. He was constructing a new roof for the silo when the scaffold gave way, causing him to fall to the hard ground. Fearing that the injuries were more serious than at first suspected, he was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where every possible medical aid was given him. An X-ray picture revealed a broken shoulder and three broken ribs, one of the ribs puncturing the lungs.

Deceased was born in Hewitt, November 6, 1895, where he grew to manhood. In 1916, he was united in marriage to Miss Coletta Durst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Durst of that place. He was a hard working young man. He was renting the Hans Ebbe farm in the Mill Creek District.

Besides his parents and widow, he is survived by five children, LeRoy, Clarence, Marion, Mildred, and Verne. He is also survived by two brothers, John and Joseph of Minneapolis. A third brother, Frank, was killed a little more than a year ago while helping raise a barn in Edgar.

The death of this hustling young farmer is a hard blow to both the family and the community in which he resided. He was a man of clean habits and good disposition, ever thoughtful of those most dear to him. Funeral services were held Tuesday from St. Michael’s Catholic Church at Hewitt and were in charge of Rev. Forster. Internment was made in the cemetery there. The entire community joins in sympathizing with the bereaved family in their hour of grief.

Given name is Leopold.
