She was born on May 18, 1922, in Enterprise, to the late Henry and Barbara (nee Rank) Seidl. As a young woman, Rose held a secretarial position with the Borden Dairy Company, working in Milwaukee and later transferring to the Hammond, Ind., office. She was a valuable employee with Borden for 35 years, retiring in 1977.
On Sept. 29, 1975, Rose was united in marriage with Anthony Gecas in Chicago. They resided on the south side of Chicago where Tony operated a successful liquor business called Bubbles. After retiring in 1986, they moved to the Pelican Lake area, where Rose held various volunteer positions with local organizations. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, in Pelican Lake, and relished time spent with her grandchildren. Tony preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 2000, and Rose moved to the West Bend area in 2005.
Rose is survived by two sons, George (Nancy) Gecas of Wheaton, Ill., and Richard (Alice) Gecas of Oak Forest, Ill.; four grandchildren, Alexandra, Elizabeth, Cary (Keskaew) and Gary; a great-grandson, Anthony Gecas; a sister, Anastasia "Ann" Bentley of Viola; acted as grandmother to her niece Marilyn's children, Steven and Courtney Jacobs; Rose also had the pleasure of acting as honorary grandmother to Craig (Shellie) Olson of Campbellsport, and Gary (Kim) Olson of Minocqua; and honorary great-grandmother to their children, Nathan, Ashley, Aaron, Cody and Brent Olson. In addition, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews mourn her loss.
Rose was predeceased in death by her husband, Tony; her sisters, Martha, Marian, Ludmilla, Margaret, Katherine and Regina; as well as her brothers, Andrew, Jacob, Roman and Anton.
Funeral services in remembrance of Rose will be held on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Cedar Theater in the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, 5595 Highway Z, West Bend. Rev. Nathan Reesman will officiate. Visitation will be at the Cedar Theater on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at noon in Enterprise Cemetery, where Rose will be reunited with her husband, parents and other members of her family.
