Andrew "Andy" Senger, 88, Strasburg, ND, died Sunday, October 22, 2006, at Med Center One, Bismarck, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2006 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND, with Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Andrew Senger was born February 8, 1918 on a farm east of Strasburg, ND, the son of Christian and Marianna (Scherr) Senger. He attended country school. Andy was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He farmed with his parents. Andy owned and operated a trucking business. He also owned and operated a Red Owl grocery store in Strasburg with his brother, Wendelin.

Andy married Regina Dietz at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton on October 5, 1948. Following their marriage they lived in Strasburg. Andy sold his half of the store and they moved to Milwaukee, WI. While in Milwaukee, he worked in various factories. They moved to Roscoe, SD in 1952 where they farmed until retiring back to Strasburg in 1978.

Andy helped organize the Veteran's Memorial Park in Strasburg and took care of the park when it was finished.

He will most be remembered for his water witching ability. He was able to locate many wells in the states of North and South Dakota. Andy enjoyed woodworking, bowling, dancing, polkas and waltzes.

He was a member of the Strasburg Lions Club.

Andy had been a resident of the Selby Good Samaritan Center for one month.

He is survived by his wife: Regina of Strasburg; one son and one daughter-in-law: Ken and Dawn Senger of Sioux Falls, SD; three daughters and sons-in-law: Gerri and Pius Heier of Aberdeen, SD, Deb and Ron Baronderau of Selby, SD and Fran and Rob Godel of Aberdeen, SD; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Jim (Kristi) Senger and son Dominik of Mitchell, SD; Eric (Tonya) Senger and daughters Britney and Kaylee of Aberdeen, SD; Andrea (Skip) Newton and daughter and son, Lara and Alex of Eagan, MN; Nicole (Adam) Johnson of Minneapolis, MN; Carson Heier of Bossier City, LA; Jill Heier of Sioux City, IA; Christopher Barondeau of Vermillion, SD; Amanda Godel of Lincoln, NE; Corey Godel of St. Cloud, MN; Tyler Barondeau of Vermillion, SD; and Michaela Godel of Aberdeen, SD; one brother and sister-in-law: Fred and Ella Senger of Milwaukee, WI and one sister: Eugenia Bartnick of Cape Corral, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Wendelin, Tony, Mike and Alois; and two sisters: Barbara and Anna Mary.
