Alice Joan Sharkey Brown, who shared her time between Wurtsboro Hills and New York City, died Friday July 8, 2005 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The daughter of the late Terrence Sharkey and Catherine O'Shea Sharkey, Alice was a homemaker and a retired employee of the JC Penney Company in Manhattan.
She was also a member of St. Joseph's Church in Wurtsboro and was the widow of Michael Brown, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, who predeceased her in July, 1982.
She is survived by her nephew, Terrence Sharkey of Pittsburgh, Pa., and a niece, Sheila Guszkowski of Colonia, N.J.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the
VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan St. in Wurtsboro, N.Y.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 13 at 10:00 AM in St.
Joseph's Church, Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. The Rev. Peter Madori will
officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Wurtsboro.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital,
501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
