Jeanette Shaw Greenwell

Jeanette Shaw Greenwell, age 95, of North Ogden, Utah returned to our Heavenly Father on March 10, 2013.

She was born May 8, 1917 in North Ogden, daughter of William Elijah and Jennie May Jones Shaw. The youngest of five children, she was raised in North Ogden and attended Weber County Schools.

She married Glen Greenwell July 2, 1934. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 28, 1939. They resided in Ogden, West Weber and North Ogden. She was a member of the North Ogden 1st Ward, serving in many callings throughout her life.

She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers and volunteered many years for the North Ogden Senior Center. She was active in the 4-H program, an avid genealogist and Utah Jazz Fan.

She served on the North Ogden Historical Committee, co-authoring two books with her cousin and best friend, Laura Kump, The History of North Ogden and Our North Ogden Pioneers 1851-1900. She received the 2006 Mayors Award in the Humanities, and the Cherry Days "As a Woman" Achievement honorable mention award.

She worked for Ken's Market and Buchanan's Fabric.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Arlen (Pearl) of St. Anthony, Idaho, Merrill (Jaylene) of North Ogden, Utah, LaRae (James) Hennek, of Holladay, Utah and Carol Messerly of St. George, Utah; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren and 8 step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers; two sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the North Ogden First Ward, 650 East 2600 North.

A visitation will be held at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. on Friday, March 15th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
