Josephine R. Burnett, 97, of Van Rensselaer Manor, former resident of Rt. 43, Averill Park, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at the Manor after a long illness.

Born and raised in Cohoes, Josephine was the daughter of the late Daniel and Beatrice Bovier Shea and wife of the late George F. Burnett. Josephine began her working career as a seamstress at the Ogden Mills and Cluett Peabody before working for the NYS Tax & Finance where she was a clerk. She had retired in 1977. Josephine had resided in Averill Park for 60 years and had lived at the Manor since February of 2006. She was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park and was a member of St. Jude's and St. Henry's Rosary Altar Societies.

Josephine was the mother of the late Patricia B. Roney, sister of the late William "Bronk" Shea, Frances Bressette and Sister Mary Honora Shea. Survivors include her daughter, Colleen A. (Donald) St. Clair of Averill Park; her grandchildren, Cris Roney, Jim Roney, Brad Roney, Beth St. Clair Bedell, Lawrence St. Clair and Jo-Anne St. Clair Rounds; great- grandmother of Krista, Gina and Tara Roney, Samantha and Matthew Bedell and Liam and Megan Rounds.

A funeral was held at St. Henry's Church, Co. Rte. 45, Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes, N.Y.
