BENIAMS FRANCES SHELBY Born July 14, 1909 in Randolph, Utah. Passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2002 in El Cerrito, CA at the age of 93. Preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Vilate McKinnon Shelby, her husband Herman N. Beniams, PhD. (1989) Bio-Chemist, Cutter Labs, Berkeley, CA, sisters Elaine Shelby Aller and Phyllis Gibson Shelby, her brother Robert LeRoy Shelby and niece Elaine Brim. Survived by her sister-in-law, Bernice Pella Shelby, loving aunt of Robert Dee Ward (Sharon) of Spanish Fork, UT, Annette Ward Orosco (Jim) of LaFayette, CA, Edward Paul Ward (Elizabeth) of Alamo, CA, Robert Mark Brim (Peggy) of Reno, CA, Kathleen Wilkinson Ballentyne of Ogden, UT, Robert McKinnon Shelby (Mara) of Bolder Creek, CA, Christine Shelby Holt (Dan) of Lansing, MI, Stephen Pella Shelby (Faith) of Franklin, MA, 17 grand nieces and nephews and 20 great-grandnieces and nephews. A resident of El Cerrito and Berkeley, CA for over 50 years, Frances was raised in Utah. Worked for the phone company, attended Brigham Young University, Provo, UT. Worked in Washington, DC and the Public Health Department, Berkeley, CA. Frances was past president and historian for the American Guild of Organists, San Francisco Chapter. She was a featured organist and organized the monthly concert series, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Temple Hill, Oakland, CA. Organist for the Church of Christian Science, she enjoyed teaching her piano students. Age 89 (1989) Frances was awarded a certificate for completing the U.S. Power Squadrons, Boat Smart Program, Oakland, CA. Private family grave side services.
