Jessie Barnett 86 of Springfield passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in Maranatha Village. She was born October 3, 1924 in Van Buren, Missouri to Raymond and Ruby Shelby.
Jessie loved crocheting, gardening and always had a vegetable garden. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and neighbors and was a member of the rural neighborhood weight watchers club. But most of all, Jessie loved and enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo Nixon Barnett, two sisters, three brothers and a daughter-in-law.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Handley and her husband, Stanley; two sons, Garrett Barnett, Curtis Barnett and his wife Meria; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a sister, Francis Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled at Maranatha Chapel on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 10 to ll with the service at 11:00 with Dr. J. R. Duncan officiating. Interment will be a 1 p.m. at the National Cemetery.
Family has requested donations be made to Seasons Hospice, 1831 W. Melville Road, Springfield, MO 65803.
