Theresa Gruben passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Dallas, TX after a long illness. She was born on July 29, 1924 in Washburn, IL to William and Theresa Sims, marrying James F. Gruben on September 6, 1950. She enjoyed gardening and volunteering at Plano grade schools. She was a devoted member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Dallas. She earned her registered nursing credentials in Peoria, IL and Abilene, Texas. She was a flight nurse in the US Air Force until she left the military in 1951 and a nurse at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas for 27 years, retiring in 1996. She is survived by 4 sons, James (Charlene) of Palatine, IL, Michael (Linda) of Dallas, Thomas (Vickie) of Mesquite, TX, David of Waterford, CT, and daughter Susan Williams (Garry) of Warren, NJ and 5 grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Michelle, Melanie and Michael Gruben. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James in 2008, her son Joseph in 1979, and by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Memorials may be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church, and the Heard Natural Science Museum, McKinney, TX. Funeral service: 10 AM Friday, July 15 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 11211 E. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX with the Rev. Luke Marsden presiding. Burial: DFW National Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, July 14 from 6 to 8 PM at Restland Funeral Home,13005 Greenville, Dallas.
