He immigrated to the US in 1872 at the age of 18. On March 17, 1890, Homestead Document 1652 deeded 160 acres to Gustaf A. Sjogren. The Northeast Quarter of Section Twenty, in Township Forty-Six North of Range Twenty-Three West of Michigan Meridian. This is in Skandia Township, Marquette County, Michigan. Gustaf Albert Sjogren died on March 16, 1908, at the age of 54 years, 9 months and 12 days in St Lukes Hospital in Marquette Michigan from stomach cancer. His Michigan Death Certificate misspells his last name as Seegren. Gustaf never married.
