Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister passed away during heart surgery on January 17, 2013 at the age of 70. She was born December 21, 1942 in Murray, Utah to Glen and Elvera Barnett. Joyce was married to Richard S. Smith on November 9, 1967 with whom she had their three children. Joyce was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in which she was a faithful member. She held many positions including a receptionist at the Jordan River Temple and serving an inner city mission in the Rose Park Fourth Ward. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Joyce is survived by her husband Richard (Smith), children Michelle Jean Johnson, Jason Richard (Sarah) Smith and Roger Austin Smith, brother James Barnett in Blanding, Utah and 8 grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in passing by her parents Glen and Elvera, sister Gloria and brother Calvin Barnett. Viewing will be held Monday, January 21st in the evening from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State St., Midvale, and funeral will be held at the West Jordan 27th Ward, 7000 South 2700 West in West Jordan on Tuesday, January 22nd at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
