Bonnie Smith Almond, age 77, passed away peacefully at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, UT on July 1, 2008.






Bonnie was born in Durham, NC on November 25, 1930 to Cody Hood and Eula Draughon Smith. After she graduated from Duke University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology, she served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in North Carolina. In 1954, she married Ray Almond of Stanley County, NC in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Ray and Bonnie moved to Northern Virginia where they raised six children. She owned and managed a retail electronics store with Ray. Bonnie later worked at the Library of Congress until retirement. Bonnie was a loving mother, devoted wife, and friend to all. She enjoyed handcrafts, genealogy, and history. Family was her greatest joy. She was loved by all and always had a smile on her face. She will be missed by anyone whose life she touched.





Bonnie is survived by children; Ellen Bond, Gary Almond, Russell Almond, Marcella Almond, and Lisa Huffman, 17 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her brothers Cody Smith and Sherwood Smith and her sister Wilma McMillan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Almond, and her son, Michael Almond.





Funeral Services will be held on Mon., July 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Hollow 6th Ward Chapel, 2200 North 1200 East, Lehi, UT. A Viewing will be held one hour prior to the Services at the Ward Chapel.
Interment will be in the Utah State Veteran's Memorial Park Cemetery at Camp Williams in Bluffdale, UT.
