Vickie Lynn Smith, 50, of Todt Hill, a waitress who enjoyed caring for people and animals, died Tuesday at her home of pancreatic cancer.

Born in Buffalo, she also lived in Brooklyn before settling in Dongan Hills in 1972. She settled in Todt Hill in the 1980s.

Mrs. Smith was a popular waitress at Brooklyn's Bridgeview Diner and on Staten Island for many years.

She attended mass at the Alba House, Meiers Corners.

In her spare time, she enjoyed taking care of her loved ones and animals. Mrs. Smith went to kennels and saved dogs, specifically a pit bull. She also saved two small birds she found and nursed them back to health.

"She was an angel on earth," said her mother, Davelle Reinke. "She was so young, so loved, so missed. Her heart was always full of love for everyone and animals too."

In addition to her mother, Davelle, surviving are her daughter, Erica; a brother, Barry; a sister, Nikki; and one grandchild.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners.
Entombment will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
