Mrs. Maria S. Cummings, widow of Dr William A. E. Cummings and a former resident of Ticonderoga, died Saturday in Kingston.
Mrs. Cummings would have reached her 100th birthday anniversary on June 17th.
She was born in Ticonderoga in 1861, daughter of Charles Darwin and Melissa Clark Smith and granddaughter of Dr. John Smith, an early Ticonderoga physician.
Dr. Cummings died in Glens Falls in 1937 and for the past 20 years, Mrs. Cummings had resided at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. Marvin Craft, in Kingston.
A lifelong Baptist, Mrs. Cummings was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glens Falls and formerly of the First Baptist Church of Ticonderoga.
She was a charter member and Past Regent of the Ticonderoga Chapter DAR and was affiliated more recently with the Wiltwyck Chapter in Kingston.
Interment took place at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Valley View Cemetery, Ticonderoga.
