Mrs. W. J. Smith, 75, who lived most of her life in Hawarden died Wednesday evening, August 5, 1953, at her home following an illness of many years. She was an invalid since 1928 following an automobile accident.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. B. Roy Brown officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the Direction of the Frazier Funeral Home.

Almyra Lucinda Satterlee was born March 15, 1878, at Lake City, Iowa, to Francis and Lucinda Satterlee. At the age of 4 she came to Hawarden where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was united in marriage with William John Smith in 1897 and to this union were born two sons.

In 1947 Mr. and Mrs. Smith celebrated their golden wedding. She was a member of the Methodist church of Hawarden.

Survivors are the widower; two sons, Earl and Lawrence, both of Hawarden; four grand children; two great-granddaughters and one brother, George Satterlee of Redmond, OR.
