Mr. Curtis C. Smith, 80, of Navasota passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at his residence in Navasota. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, July 31st at Nobles Funeral Chapel, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 1'st Nobles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Larrabee of the 1'st Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel. Curtis was born in Easterly, Texas, April 18, 1933, the son of Curtis Smith and Virginia Marie Boes Smith. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean conflict. Curtis married Emma Lee Binford on April 20, 1957 in Navasota. Curtis worked for Bluebonnet Motors as Service Manager until his retirement. He was a member of VFW Post 4006. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilton Ennis Smith, and Ronnie Ray Smith. Curtis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emma of Navasota; daughters, Terry Smith and Donna Dick and husband Billy of Rockport; sons, Darrell Smith and wife Monica of College Station and David Smith and partner Rodney Pena of Houston. He is also survived by his brother Vodie Lavon Smith and wife Janey of Anderson; grandchildren, Michael & Ashley Smith, Megan & Matt Byrd, Mathew Garret Dick & Fiancée Alexa Cantu; great grandchild, Anna Margaret Byrd. Serving as pallbearers are Rickey Binford of Navasota, Hershel Perry of Anderson, Garrett Dick of Rockport, Larry Binford of Conroe, Michael Smith of College Station and Adrian Smith of Onalaska, TX.
