Born February 12, 1932 in Bluffdale, Utah.
Died March 2, 2011 in San Miguel De Allende, GTO, Mexico.
Ace spent most of his life in the family home in Bluffdale, Utah. Married Dorthy Jean Sorensen 1963 later divorced. After retiring from Kennecott Copper he taught himself to speak Spanish and moved to Mexico where he bought a small home and enjoyed his retirement.
He was a talented man of few words, who never wanted to be a burden on anyone. In his lifetime he created many beautiful things with his hands, a violin, 2 sailboats, several windmills, and constructing a home for a poor family in Mexico were among his many accomplishments. He always gave the advice “Don’t worry about what you can’t change”.
Ace was preceded in death by parents Lester Smith and Ida Kjar Smith and sister Lorraine Laursen. Survived by children Amelia (Scott) Dumas Payson, Lucinda “Lucy” Smith West Valley, and Brandell Smith West Valley, and grandchildren Kiersten, Derek, Eric, Payson.
A memorial service will be held at the Bluffdale Cemetery March 2, 2012 at 1:00 pm.
