Barbara G. Abbott, 77, of Las Vegas, passed Nov. 8, 2011. The granddaughter of a Utah pioneer, she was born April 20, 1934, to George E. Smith and Margaret L. Miller, in Evans, Utah, and was a five-year resident of Nevada. She trained on-the-job as a nurse's aide and worked in many hospitals in Utah and Arizona. She was an accomplished seamstress and avid gardener. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and friends and was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She married in Logan Temple Dec. 13, 1957 to Lemuel A. Abbott. She was a friend to many all around the world. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel A. Abbott; and brother, Trueman Smith. She is survived by her two brothers, Jae of Virginia and Earland (Pauline) Smith of Utah; two sisters, Alexis Tanner of Utah and Bonnie Smith of Utah; seven children, Brian of Utah, Blain of Alaska, Kurt of Utah, Michele of Nevada, Russell of Alaska, Shalayne of Nevada, and Blair of Utah; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the 6th LDS Chapel, 6100 W. Alta Drive, Las Vegas. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at VA Cemetery Camp Williams, 17800 S. Camp Williams Road, Riverton, Utah. Donations can be made to Abbott Family, 113 Harvard St., Las Vegas, NV 89107.
