GALESBURG - Shirley Jeanett Sargeant, 68, of 763 Century Estates died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Marigold Health Care Center.

Born July 9, 1932, in Galesburg to Emmett Issac and Dora Irene Corbett Smith, she married Kenneth L. Sargeant on Jan. 15, 1977, in Galesburg. He died April 3, 1988.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Surviving are one son, Tony Hickman of Oneida; one daughter, Carole Kelley of Omaha, Neb.; and five grandchildren.

She worked in housekeeping for the Hotel Custer for several years.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose.

She was a member of Full Gospel Assembly Church.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at East Linwood Cemetery. The Rev. John Carlson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at Hinchliff-PearsonWest Galesburg Chapel.
