Marjorie Jane Kasparie, Galesburg Chapel 87, formerly of Woodhull, Illinois, died at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Seminary Manor in Galesburg.
She was born March 10, 1927 in Elmwood, Illinois the daughter of Robert Earl and Nellie Winifred (Ridenour) Smith. She married Glenn Delbert Kasparie on March 15, 1947 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death March 28, 2001.
She is survived by a sister, Maxine Simpson of Bushnell, Illinois and multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 13 brothers and sisters.
Marjorie had worked as a waitress, at Butler Manufacturing, and retired from Maytag Corporation. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1945. She had lived in Gilson and Woodhull for many years. Marjorie was of the Methodist faith. She belonged to the Eastern Star and was active politically. Marjorie enjoyed needlework, gardening, and reading.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Milton Marquith will officiate. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or American Diabetes Association.
