Alberdine Lena (Jontry) SMITH, age 95, d. 27 Feb 2000, at Wesley Gardens, Rochester, NY. Born in Chenoa, IL, 23 Aug 1904, she was d/o Charles Ferdinand JONTRY and Minnie REID.

Alberdine attended the Kellogg School of Physical Education in Battle Creek, MI, where she graduated with degree in Physical Education and Health. She taught physical education in IL and IA schools.

She married Leland M. SMITH in 1932 in the Methodist Church in Galesburg, IL, where they were active members for many years. Active in Galesburg community, she was President of the League of Women Voters for four yrs., and studied her genealogy and family history. A descendant of a Revolutionary War soldier who served at Valley Forge, she became a member of the New England Women and was past Regent of the Rebecca Parke Chapter of the DAR, as well as a member of the Huguenot Historical Society.

Preceded in death by her husband, Leland, Alberdine moved in 1997 from Galesburg to Fairport, NY, to be near her family.

She is my cousin, through the Nickerson family side, which was her father's mother's side.
