She was the wife of Harry N. Kirkegard, a former councilman and police chief here.
Mrs. Kirkegard was born in Newcastle, England, and was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Smith. She had been a local resident 29 years.
Mrs. Kirkegard was a member of the Eatontown Presbyterian church; past matron of Eatontown chapter, Order of the Easter Star; charter member of the Eatontown ambulance auxiliary, and a member of the Eatontown Women's Republican club.
Surviving, besides her husband, are a brother, John Smith of Long Branch, and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Woods and Miss Jennie Smith, both of Long Branch, and Mrs. Harvey Spranger of West Long Branch.
The Eastern Star held a service Sunday night in the Robert A. Braun home for funerals. The funeral was held Monday in the funeral home, with Rev. Robert M. Snable, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial was in Glenwood cemetery.
