Alta N. Adams

Alta N. Adams, 77, who made her home in
Crisfield with her son Charles L. Adams,
"the Crisfield Times boy," died Wednesday,
Sept. 11, 1991 at home of cancer.

Born in Norfolk, Va., she was a daughter of the
late John H. Sommers and Mary Virginia
Stritzel Sommers. Her husband, Upshur L.
Adams, died in 1968. She attended the Mount
Pleasant United Methodist Church in Crisfield.

In addition to her son, Charles, she is survived
by three other sons, Jerry L. Adams of
Crisfield, John M. Adams of Salisbury, and
George E. Adams of Elkton, Md.; three
daughters, Sarah Morgan of Crisfield, Mary
Kyte of Ewell, and Annie Bozman of Norfolk;
one brother, Clarence Sommers of West Palm
Beach, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-
grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews. Three children preceded her in
death, Calvin Adams, Lewis Adams, and
Annie Adams.

A funeral service was held Saturday at the
Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield.
Pastor Bill S. Wilson and the Rev. Jonas
Taylor officiated.

Interment was in Crisfield Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in memory of the
deceased to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733,
Salisbury, Md. 21802.
