Pearl Somers Atwater, 92, formerly of Pennrose Dr. died Tuesday (Aug. 21, 2012) at the Penn Nursing Center.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00AM Thursday (Aug. 23, 2012) in Greenview Cemetery with Dr. Bill Duke and Rev. Dave Huggins officiating.
A native of Rockingham Co., she was a daughter of the late Ira Lawrence and Lillie Mae Dawson Somers and she had lived in Reidsville most of her life. Pearl was a member of the First Baptist Church and a home maker. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband: Herman Atwater; her two sons: Wayne Atwater, & Thomas "Tommy" Atwater; her sisters: Olivia Elliott, & Shirley Hunt; a brother: Gordon Somers; and a sister-in-law: Tommie Jane Somers.
Surviving is her brother: Ira Lee Somers of Reidsville; sister-in-law: Helen Somers of Reidsville; her very special friend and caregiver: Kay Simpson of Reidsville; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal visitation. Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Atwater family.
